- Great job to all of our students in the 7th grade orchestra and Chamber Orchestra who made our first concert a success.
- Thank you to all of our parent volunteers this week for annual Fall Fundraiser, Uniform Fittings and Concert Supervision. Parents you are awesome and the orchestra can't survive without you!
- The 8th Grade Music Department (Band, Chorus and Orchestra) will have their first concert of the year next Monday Nov. 7th in the cafeteria beginning at 7:00 pm. Students who are in the orchestra ONLY will arrive at 6:45 pm. Students who are in chorus and orchestra will need to arrive earlier. See Ms. Rabun for your appointed time.
- There will be no after school rehearsals this week for orchestra, this includes Chamber Orchestra. Chamber Orchestra students should stop by the orchestra room on Wednesday morning to pick up music for our next performance.
- The orchestra uniform for our concert attire is a blue Griffin MS orchestra polo, with black dress pants/skirt and black dress shoes. These polos are being ordered and students have been measured for the appropriate size. The cost of the polo is $20.00. Students should turn in their fee by Nov. 15th in a school white envelope that they can receive from Ms. Proctor. This is the uniform for our 7th and 8th grade students. Students in the 6th grade orchestra may order an orchestra t-shirt. Information on sizing, cost and parent volunteers will be sent home in the coming week.
- Thanks parents for supporting the orchestra! Don't forget to send pictures of students from our concerts and events to be included on our blog and the school website.

No After school orchestra practices this week. Morning orchestra meets on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:15 am to 9:00 am. Fundraiser collection days are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings this week from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Parents be sure to help students fill out forms completely, total items on the form and count money before turning it in to the music department. Donations are gladly accepted and we hope parents that you give a donation if you were unable to sell items. Our fundraiser helps pay for uniforms, field trips, music clinicians that work with students, instruments, cases, bows, and other musical accessories. Wednesday Oct. 26th is the 7th grade Fall Concert and Chamber Orchestra Concert. Parents be sure to have students back at the school by 6:15 pm in their concert attire (orchestra tshirt/hoody, black pants/skirt and black dress shoes). Students are NOT allowed to stay after school on this performance day. The concert will end at 7:30 pm, parents please pick up students by 7:45 pm. Parents we are still in need of adult supervision for students prior to the concert. We need parents in the orchestra room and cafeteria between 6:00 pm and 6:45 pm. We have 1 parent volunteer out of 100 students and need at least 3 more. Please email me if you are able to assist. Parents we also need two more parent volunteers to assist with orchestra uniform fittings this Thursday and Friday morning between 9:15 to 11:00 am. If you are able to assist please e-mail me. Chamber Orchestra students be sure to stay after school on Wednesday for a rehearsal for that evenings performance. Please wear concert attire (blue orchestra polo, black dress pants/skirt, black dress shoes) Parents please advise students to be responsible with instruments not only in the classroom, but at home and traveling on the bus/car/walking home. We have had school instruments damaged within the past two weeks due to students not being responsible. Our school is fortunate to have as many instruments as we do for students to use for FREE. We must value and protect these instruments. I have received reports from bus drivers, teachers and parents of students not taking the proper precautions. Students have been seen taking instruments out of the case on the bus, outside the school for friends and damage happening at home. Parents help support the orchestra encouraging your child to be responsible. Thank you for your support of the orchestra program and let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Musically, Selinda Proctor Remember subscribe to our blog- www.weebly.griffinmsorchestra.com |
