1. ALL SCHOOL INSTRUMENTS should be turned into the orchestra by tomorrow morning, Monday May 21st. . Instruments must be checked in for Cobb County School District Inventory. If your son/daughter is ill or planning your summer vacation early, PLEASE be sure to bring your child's instrument to Student Support.
2. Any student that owns a PERSONAL INSTRUMENT should take that instrument home by Monday May 21st. The school cannot be responsible for the protection of personal instruments over the summer. Parents make arrangements to pick up your child's instrument if they are ill. Please be sure to know your child's instrument locker number and lock combination.
3. Students be sure to take any personal items home over the summer such as locks, folders, Essential Elements Books, Rosin, Rockstops or Shoulder Rests. Remember 6th grade students who are going to 7th grade, we use the same book in 7th grade orchestra, Essential Elements for Strings Book 1.
4. If you want to get a jump start on what your child will need in orchestra for next year see the list below.
7th Grade- Essential Elements for Strings Book 1 (same book as in 7th grade), Black Plastic 2 pocket, 3 prong folder, pencil, shoulder rest (violin and violas), rockstop (cello and bass), rosin, soft cloth/rag (clean rosin off instrument), index cards, spare strings- Prelude or Red Label (ask Ms. Proctor for sizing)
8th Grade- Essential Elements for Strings Book 2 (NEW Book, purchase at local music stores or online), Black Plastic 2 pocket, 3 prong folder, pencil, shoulder rest (violin and violas), rockstop (cello and bass), rosin, soft cloth/rag (clean rosin off instrument), index cards, spare strings- Prelude or Red Label (ask Ms. Proctor for sizing)
5. The orchestra is gaining as assistant orchestra teacher in the Fall so we will have twice the help in our program. More information on our new assistant to come in the summer.
